Our designer Pia conjures up a wintery scene with red rowan berries, a small fox and dancing snowflakes. Her design is a nod to turn-of-the-century aesthetics and weaves in her own family history – about her grandmother’s uncle Nisse and his wife Alma, who left Kiruna in northern Sweden for a new life in Canada. Like the stories of many settlers, theirs is a tale of courage, hope and finding their place in a new world, where nature is the link to their homeland and the people they left behind.

From Kiruna to Canwood
Alma from Sweden was one of many people who emigrated to Canada at the turn of the last century. A new country, but with forests very like those back home and an abundance of rowan berries – said to foretell a hard winter ahead. This collection includes a linen-blend woven fabric, embroideries and knitted jacquard, together with our long cardigan made from a heathered yarn that we have composed ourselves. Combine with soft jersey creations featuring lush berry patterns.
