Festive table decor

Hands creating a festive table setting with home textiles from Gudrun Sjödén, vintage crockery and small green decorations.

Follow our step-by-step guide:

You’ll need:
•    Gudrun Sjödén’s white ribbon (or other decorative trim)
•    Fine glasses (if buying, look for second-hand)
•    Cloth napkins »
•    Tablecloth »
•    Scissors
•    Small natural elements (rosehips, winter greenery, dried oranges)

1. Cut several pieces of ribbon to the right length – one piece per glass and one per napkin.
2. Carefully wrap the ribbon around the glass or its stem and tie a small bow.
3. Gently tighten the bow, neat and straight, so it stays in place without slipping.
4. Roll or fold the napkin and tie a ribbon around the middle, finished off with a matching bow.
5. Add some greenery, rose hips, dried orange slices or other natural details.
6. Lay out the glasses and place the napkins on or next to the plates.
7. Adorn the table with candles, greenery and small natural elements to tie the style together.

 A useful tip!
•    Vary the ribbon lengths for a more organic and handcrafted aesthetic.
•    Let the ribbons echo the colours or patterns of the textiles on the table.
•    Sprigs of forest foliage and pinecones add subtle fragrance and soft undertones that bring an extra dimension to the table setting.
