“Field” poncho/sweater in recycled yarns

This quirky poncho can be worn as a sweater too. Fully open at the front, it can be closed with the press-studs at the side and worn either as a short-sleeve sweater or twisted 90 degrees as a long-sleeve, short poncho. The irregular stripes of alternating recycled wool and cotton yarns and an alpaca blend produce an intriguing textured finish. Standard fit.

“Field” knitted in different yarns: 49% cotton, of which 39% is recycled cotton/30% recycled wool/5% mohair/5% alpaca/10 % polyamide, of which 6% is recycled/1% other fibres. Varying stripes of medium-weight stocking stitch and garter stitch. Soft drape. By sourcing partly recycled materials, we reduce our environmental footprint – our use of water, land, energy and chemicals. Soft, slightly woolly garments are more sensitive than others. Pilling may therefore occur after repeated wear. Carefully remove any pilling by hand. We recommend airing in damp weather or steaming with an iron. If necessary, handwash at 30° or machine wash on the handwash cycle, ideally in a mesh wash bag. Use detergent designed for wool. Reshape the garment while damp and dry flat. 2-3% shrinkage. Made in Morocco.

“Field” recycled-yarn poncho/sweater

Wearing layer upon layer of thin, airy fabrics is at the heart of our philosophy when it comes to functional clothing that needs to work regardless of changes in temperature. Although summer has all but gone, we're not quite ready to get out the long sleeves yet. We'd rather enjoy the last of the summer warmth hanging in the air. Our poncho/sweater feels like the perfect compromise. It's easy to just pull on and pairs perfectly with a dress or a jersey top over a pair of trousers or a skirt. But our pieces always need a little something extra. Sometimes, when you've been going over and over an idea in your head, a brainwave will hit you unexpectedly, like lightning striking from a clear blue sky. Why not make this piece twistable so that it can have long or short sleeves, depending on your needs? No sooner said than done! Now you can twist and turn our innovative "Field" poncho and wear it whichever way takes your fancy.

To ensure your complete satisfaction, we recommend that you check your measurements against our sizing chart.

Measuring advice:
Measure directly against your skin without tightening the tape measure around your body.

BUST: Measure your bust around the fullest part, ideally wearing your favourite bra.

WAIST: Measure your waist around the smallest part (your natural waistline).

HIPS: Measure your hips around the fullest part of your bottom.

Our fit

We like mixing figure-fit with more generously cut fashion. That's why we have four different types of tailoring. You'll find information on the different types of fit in the detailed descriptions of each item. The choice of material also influences the amount of movement allowed by a garment. Knits and jersey-knits have more give in them than woven, less stretchy materials. That's why our weaves are often more generously tailored. For you to be as happy as possible with your purchases, we recommend that you spend a few moments taking your measurements and comparing them with our size chart.

The garment is close fitting, with a maximum of 6 cm room for movement around the bust and maximum 3 cm around the hips.

Standard fit
The garment has 7-16 cm room for movement around the bust and 4-12 cm around the hips.

Generous fit
A free and easy fit with at least 17 cm room for movement around the bust and 13 cm or more around the hips.

Extra generous fit
Lots of room for movement, 31 cm or more around the bust.

Gudrun Sjödén’s own ecolabel

Next to each garment representing an eco-friendly choice, you’ll now be seeing the following symbols, in a system we call Gudrun’s Good Guide:

Gudrun’s Good Fibres

These items are made entirely or partly from a material grown and produced with sustainability in mind. The fibres we categorise as a good environmental option are organically grown, recycled, naturally retted flax, Tencel® lyocell, Lenzing Modal®, silk, alpaca, vegetable tanned and dyed leather along with wood and rubber. We impose requirements for transparency and we audit manufacturer certification.

Gudrun’s Good Manufacturing

These products are manufactured entirely or largely at audited factories geared to the best possible production processes for the external environment and human health. We make strict requirements for all the influential processes in the manufacturing to be certified, in some cases all the way to the stitching factory. We recognise the GOTS, Fairtrade and STeP by OEKO-TEX standards.

Gudrun’s Good Guide
– A whole collection to take pride in.

We aim to have as many of our products as possible produced in an environmentally-friendly way, not just a limited and exclusive line. Over the decades, environmental awareness has evolved and gone in and out of fashion. From the 80s when eco-friendliness was tentative and virtually impossible, through the 90s when we launched our first organic collection, to today when green choices are obvious.

In the forest of eco-labelling systems, we felt that having our own label would make it easier for our customers to find their way around our collections. So, in 2008 we introduced our own eco-labelling system, which we called our Leaves label, and in 2017 we will be updating our labelling system and Gudrun’s Good Guide.

Three different yarn bases in alternating stripes of varying widths and textures. Together they create the undulating landscape on our “Field” poncho sweater. Yes, it’s possible to paint with textiles! From dry recycled cotton to reclaimed wool and hairy alpaca blends, textiles with their colour and fibre variations produce a fabulous 3D effect. And you can transform it into a cosy poncho with a 90 degree twist – what more could you wish for!
