Knitted alpaca blend cardigan: 40% alpaca/25% cotton/25% polyamide/10% wool in a warm and cosy chunky knit. The wool is mulesing-free. The cotton is certified organic. The heathered yarn has been specially produced for this product. Soft, slightly woolly garments are more sensitive than others. Therefore, even the finest wool may be subject to some pilling after repeated wear. Carefully remove any pilling by hand. We recommend airing in damp weather or steaming with an iron. If necessary, handwash at 30° or machine wash on the handwash cycle. Use detergent designed for wool. Reshape the garment while damp and dry flat. 4-5% shrinkage. Made in China.

The fibres we classify as good environmental options include organically grown fibres, recycled fibres, naturally retted flax, Tencel® lyocell, Lenzing Modal®, silk, alpaca wool, vegetable-tanned and -dyed leather along with wood and rubber. We audit manufacturer certifications and impose strict transparency requirements.

Winter‘s Cosy styles

Don’t you just love pulling on a really soft and cosy cardigan? For comfort and warmth all winter, we’ve created two new pieces in a blend of alpaca and wool which, as you’d expect, is mulesing-free. Enjoy this season’s soft and harmonious colours.

Specially-knitted wool from Hangzhou – a couple of hours from Shanghai “The mills where they spin the wool are an impressive size. I’ve a better understanding now of how much effort goes into transforming raw fibres into knitted cardigans and sweaters."

To ensure your complete satisfaction, we recommend that you check your measurements against our sizing chart.

Measuring advice:
Measure directly against your skin without tightening the tape measure around your body.

BUST: Measure your bust around the fullest part, ideally wearing your favourite bra.

WAIST: Measure your waist around the smallest part (your natural waistline).

HIPS: Measure your hips around the fullest part of your bottom.

Our fit

We like mixing figure-fit with more generously cut fashion. That's why we have four different types of tailoring. You'll find information on the different types of fit in the detailed descriptions of each item. The choice of material also influences the amount of movement allowed by a garment. Knits and jersey-knits have more give in them than woven, less stretchy materials. That's why our weaves are often more generously tailored. For you to be as happy as possible with your purchases, we recommend that you spend a few moments taking your measurements and comparing them with our size chart.

The garment is close fitting, with a maximum of 6 cm room for movement around the bust and maximum 3 cm around the hips.

Standard fit
The garment has 7-16 cm room for movement around the bust and 4-12 cm around the hips.

Generous fit
A free and easy fit with at least 17 cm room for movement around the bust and 13 cm or more around the hips.

Extra generous fit
Lots of room for movement, 31 cm or more around the bust.

Gudrun Sjödén’s own ecolabel

Next to each garment representing an eco-friendly choice, you’ll now be seeing the following symbols, in a system we call Gudrun’s Good Guide:

Gudrun’s Good Fibres

These items are made entirely or partly from a material grown and produced with sustainability in mind. The fibres we categorise as a good environmental option are organically grown, recycled, naturally retted flax, Tencel® lyocell, Lenzing Modal®, silk, alpaca, vegetable tanned and dyed leather along with wood and rubber. We impose requirements for transparency and we audit manufacturer certification.

Gudrun’s Good Manufacturing

These products are manufactured entirely or largely at audited factories geared to the best possible production processes for the external environment and human health. We make strict requirements for all the influential processes in the manufacturing to be certified, in some cases all the way to the stitching factory. We recognise the GOTS, Fairtrade and STeP by OEKO-TEX standards.

Gudrun’s Good Deed

These items are sold in aid of various charitable causes.

Gudrun’s Good Guide
– A whole collection to take pride in.

We aim to have as many of our products as possible produced in an environmentally-friendly way, not just a limited and exclusive line. Over the decades, environmental awareness has evolved and gone in and out of fashion. From the 80s when eco-friendliness was tentative and virtually impossible, through the 90s when we launched our first organic collection, to today when green choices are obvious.

In the forest of eco-labelling systems, we felt that having our own label would make it easier for our customers to find their way around our collections. So, in 2008 we introduced our own eco-labelling system, which we called our Leaves label, and in 2017 we will be updating our labelling system and Gudrun’s Good Guide.

The rose! This wonderful flower never fails to inspire us. The colours in this collection are based on the red and pink nuances of the rose and are over-dyed to achieve the right sober and sophisticated feel. Our “Roses” prints pair beautifully with our solid-colour pieces crafted from linen jersey, knitted heathered alpaca and other exciting fabrics. So you can create your own eye-catching Gudrun outfit!
