For a seamless journey and standout lookThe railway station in Shimla is the first setting for the photoshoot of The Traveller collection. Its old-world charm is alive with the rhythm of arrivals and departures. An irresistible backdrop. Suddenly, the Shimla Express rattles into the station. Its arrival sparks a flurry of activity. A small troop of monkeys darts towards neatly stacked boxes of food and drink intended for passengers waiting on the platform. The nimble monkeys begin untying the strings with remarkable skill, only to be swiftly shooed away by the owner of the goods. The pink down coat is the ideal travel companion, whatever the season. It can be effortlessly rolled up and packed away. Our generously sized printed tote bag is perfect as hand luggage for both rail and air.

Colourful clothes and accessories

Gudrun read on the web that the railway line between Shimla and Kalka was completed in 1903. Spanning 96 kilometres, it climbs from 650 to 2,076 metres, passing through 103 tunnels and crossing more than 800 bridges. The UNESCO World Heritage List includes the “Mountain Railways of India”.

Each train has its own name. For example, Himalayan Queen and Shivalik Deluxe Express. The stations are called Dharampur, Solan, Kandaghat and Summerhill. Over 9,000 workers were involved in the construction of the railway. Nearly all the bridges were built by hand in stone. Many of today’s carriages are relatively modern, yet designed in a nostalgic, heritage style.

Our charming rooms feature large windows overlooking tall trees. On the first morning, two small monkeys perched on Gudrun’s windowsill. The glass was soundproof, so they remained unaware of her gaze. The collection includes a lightly printed viscose kimono and a jersey nightgown. The prints are designed to be worn together in harmonious layers.

One cardigan – eight coloursThe cardigan comes in a remarkable spectrum of colours – everything from orange and coral to graphite and dark ash grey. The classic silhouette of this alpaca-blend knit features a round neckline and large mother-of-pearl buttons. Alpaca fibre, originally from South America and now also farmed in parts of Europe and North America, is prized for its softness and warmth.

Summerhill is the next station after Shimla. A wonderfully hectic scene. With crowds of travellers, a stream of luggage and cheeky monkeys teasing dogs. Our cable-knit cardigan, crafted from lambswool, showcases a timeless pattern of squares and cables. Exceptionally soft and comfortable, it is finished with exquisite buttons – small textile works of art. Choosing between the five available colours is no simple task!

We love pockets. Big, small and everything in between. When you’re on the road, however, nothing beats an inside pocket. The smartest place to keep valuables close, whether you’re wearing the down coat or carrying our compact shoulder bag. And the passport holder gives you peace of mind. It saves you from doing the frantic ‘where is it?’ dance.

Matching detailsYou’ll find a selection of accessories designed to make your journey both smoother and more vibrant. Each piece – bag, wallet, passport holder and the indispensable luggage tag – is colour-matched to complement the collection’s palette. And, of course, no journey is complete without a pair of comfortable travel socks. Soft and breathable, making every step and every mile feel lighter.
