We travel east to colourful Gujarat in north-west India. Lots of states
and lots of different textile techniques. All special in their own way. Do producers in the state of Gujarat specialise in weaving linen? I’m not sure. Block printing and handicrafts are widely practised in the state of Rajasthan. That I do know. Over the years, I’ve learned so much while travelling around India. I have got to know people and gained a deep understanding of textile techniques. But above all, I’ve wanted to learn much more about authentic handicrafts. Not products that are made quickly to sell to tourists, who naturally cannot see whether they are genuine or fake.
