Jaisalmer – exquisite textile artistry

Handicrafts are made in abundance in Jaisalmer, and once again, our Indian colleagues have demonstrated their incredible skill. Ikat and dip-dyeing with real vegetable dyes, warm yellows, madder red and of course, indigo – which creates such gorgeous hues in the deep indigo vats. According to symbolic tradition, the shimmering embroidered mirrors are said to protect against evil spirits.
